How much would it cost to convert a van?

Van Storage

Say a Chevy Astro van or a Ford Econoline? I’ll be going on a 4 week roadtrip, with 3 other people.

I’d say it’d have to have a bed, enough room for storage, a sink, a secondary battery, microwave/stove, plus extras? Would it be cheaper if I converted the van storage myself or would it be cheaper to take it into someone who knows what they’re doing?
See, that’s the thing… It would be a lot simpler to do that, but up here, I can’t find any. The only one’s I HAVE found were converted, but weren’t big enough to hold 4 people.

repair garage storage question?

Van Storage

Hi,
One week before Christmas, when I tried to start my vehicle”s engine it made a terrible noise, this happened on a friday. I contacted a nearby repair shop, the mechanic came an towed my van to his shop. The following week, the mechanic phoned me and told me my engine was blown. I could either replace the van storage engine
or junk the van. The mechanic stated that because of the condition (blown engine) of the vehicle he would not charge me for looking at it or towing. I told him Thank you. He then advised I junk the van. I ask for time to decide on what I wanted to do. The mechanic said sure take your time in deciding I understand. After debating over the weekend I decided to phone the mechanic, telling him I couldn”t make a decision without him giving me Prices of what a replaced engine would be. He stated he would check around for prices and get back to me. After the Holidays.. he quoted me a price of $1500! He said take your time decide and get back to me on what you want to do. I then made numerous phone calls and searched the internet for an engine. The following Wednesday it was brought to our attention we were about to have a huge snowstorm. I receive a FRANTIC phone message from the mechanic telling me I NEED TO DECIDE NOW ..WE HAVE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE! AND if I want he will buy the vehicle from me at JUNK price or he also has a BUYER ..either way he needs the vehicle”s title! NOW! At this point I looked for my title only to realize I had misplaced it. I then left a phone message telling the mechanic I can not find my title. I will have to apply for a new one. We then had two snowstorms back to back 32+ inches every business was shut down. Plus another and another snowstorm. I also had a two family crisis (Death”s) I could not get anywhere to get a new title. Last monday I applied for a new title and finally received it this past Saturday. At this time I also noticed an ad in our local paper stating they were buying junk vehicles. I phoned them and asked what they paid. I then contacted the mechanic and stated that he never quoted me an actual cash amount (he told me he would pay me Junk price). I asked him what that amount would be. I told him I do have another buyer.

TODAY I received a phone call from the mechanic telling me He feels we should be square, he should owe me nothing. I should just GIVE him the van because he never charged me for towing or diagnosis of the van”s problem. He also added he done some checking around and he could charge me $10 a day for storage. (THE VAN WAS PARKED IN A PUBLIC ALLEY!)

My question is must I pay for Storage? Storage costs were never mentioned until today. Not to mentioned the automobile
was parked in a PUBLIC ALLEY! Not in his building. He also stated to me in the beginning he would not charge me for looking at the van or towing. I need to know if I Am I liable NOW for Storage (nothing was signed or mentioned until today)towing and his diagnosis (he originally said there would be no charges)? None of these costs became known until I mentioned another buyer.

Thanks

Kim

How should I go about going in a van with a trailer?

Van Storage

I am in a touring band and we are going to go to New York City. It would be impossible to drive the van around with the trailer attached; no parking. We unfortunately don’t know anyone around to store the trailer with. Is there any sort of parking garage or van storage place around where we could just store the trailer or both the trailer and the van? Or maybe any other suggestions?

Does anyone know of a portable generator that is under 9″ in height that could fit in storage?

Van Storage

…space in my camper van?
I bought a 2001 Leisure Travel Van in Sept (Dodge Ram Van 3500). It did not come with a generator. I”d like to take a portable generator with me camping, but am having difficulty finding a place to carry it. There is a storage space on the side accessibile from a door which is a little over 8.5″ high. Haven”t seen any generators this short. I don”t want to carry it inside the coach because of the fuel
oline smell. I can”t carry it on the back bumper or trailer hitch rack because anything there would block rear access through the back door which also has the spare tire on it. Any ideas?

Best Mini-Van that doesn’t look like a weenie mobile?

Van Storage

My wife currently drives a 2007 Chevy Tahoe LTZ, fully loaded. Our lease is up in 2 years, and by then our girls will be about 5 years old. She’s turned on by those mini vans that have those swiveling seats and stow n go seating and storage. On the inside these things look pretty cool with all the DVD screens, pop up tables, video game system plugs, and all the van storage space. But when I am the one driving, which mini van out there looks hot on the OUTSIDE? Which one will I be able to drive without covering my face in embarassment? Or am I destine to be another mini-van driving dad who’s wife got her way?

Suggestions for a Van to be slept in?

Van Storage

Hi,

I am planning on purchasing a van. I plan to sleep in this van as I attend college.

Over time, I wish to convert the van into a decent looking camper van with the basics. I’d just need a bed, some storage space for my clothes & food, and a small table for my laptop and books. I’d love the backseat to pull into a bed.

I have saved up $1,300, and if I sell my car, I’ll have about $2,800 cash. I do not want car payments, and I’m interested in spending about $3,000 – $4,000 for the van. I live in Van Nuys, California, 91405

Please give me a few good recommendations for a van that fits the budget I’m on.

Please keep in mind, I plan to use this van a living space. I would also like any advice on privacy additions, keeping my clothes & food out of sight for passengers, and I would also love for the backseat to fold into a bed.

What van would you use to sleep in if you were a 23 year old single college student?

Thank you, and God bless.

Charles
Thanks for the input Benjiman W and Obviousman, but your responses are not helpful at all.

My question asks to suggest a van, not to voice opinions on my decision to sleep in my van.

I will most likely need to post this again because you guy’s have decided to speak off topic, causing this thread to be trash.
